Why Exercise Is Better Than Running

Running and walking are awesome physical activities that awaken every cell in the body. They are absolute favorites in the world of fitness, and experts consider these activities as excellent exercises. But walking can be better than running in many ways. Read on to find out why.

Why Exercise Is Better Than Running

Indeed, running and walking are two of the exercises that are best considered within the world where the body is exercised, since both are aerobic exercises that support the problem of healthy weight loss, improve mood, increase energy , Regulate high blood pressure and cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

For some walking is more like a way that is going to take them somewhere, but it is actually one of the best things you can give your body. The exercise of walking, heals the body, improves physical appearance and provides long-term health.

Each step you take, strengthens your cardiovascular system, tones your muscles and increases your power to burn fat, and decreases the chances of numerous diseases.

Walk and run

Walking at a brisk pace is more effective in reducing the risk of heart disease than running when the energy expenditure of these activities is balanced.

For the purpose of a particular study, a group of scientists compared the results of two separate studies over six years. They observed 33,060 runners and 15,045 walkers between 18 and 80 years.

The results showed that, although participants in both groups spent the same amount of energy, walkers obtained greater health benefits than their peers.

Running can reduce the risk of heart disease by 4.5%, but walking can reduce this risk by 9.3%.

Walking had a greater impact on the following factors that increase the risk of heart disease:

Walking reduced the risk of hypertension for the first time by 7.2% and 4.2%
Walking reduced the risk of high cholesterol for the first time by 7% and running at 4.3%
Both walking and running reduced the risk of diabetes for the first time by 12%.

Dr. Paul Williams of the Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory in California, the leader of this study, concluded that moderate-intensity walking and jogging offer surprising health benefits because they both involve the same muscle groups.

The difference is in the intensity of these activities. Runners and walkers were supposed to spend the same amount of energy to experience the same benefits, which means they would have to walk a little more than they would have to run to achieve the same effect.

Walking and running can be done anywhere, at any time, it costs nothing, plus they are considered as an excellent social activity.

Running is quite rigorous compared to walking, so if you prefer, you have to select an adjustment program that will improve your fitness as soon as possible.

Making too much effort is detrimental

According to a report published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, people who force their bodies into hard physical activities are likely to lose the benefits offered by walking.

This report was carried out by a group of researchers from Denmark. People who run at a rapid pace for more than 4 hours a week, and more than three times a week, experienced the same risk of death as people who sit for long hours and do not exercise at all.

This was the result of a 12-year study. The results did not change even after the researchers took into consideration factors such as age, sex, health records, history of heart disease / diabetes, smoking and alcohol consumption.

On the other hand, the lower risk of death was observed in individuals who ran less than three times a week for 1-2.4 hours, of course, at a slow to moderate rate.

People who ran a little longer, for 2.5-4 hours a week at a faster pace, less than three times a week, had a slightly higher risk of dying at 66%. This certainly was a surprise.

If you are trying to lose excess weight and maintain health, consider determining a happy medium that will protect your heart health, burn calories, and regulate blood sugar.

It's a really good thing to know that even walking can bring such good benefits, right? This will probably bring joy to those who do not like to run.

Walking is beneficial for almost everyone

The exercise of walking is an amazing activity for beginners of exercise, or for individuals diagnosed with some health problem. Obese people will expose their bodies to less stress if they choose to walk instead of running.

Running has a repetitive nature, so the risk of injury is quite high, unlike walking. Fitness gurus believe that running is a high-impact exercise in which you can injure your knee, hip and ankle joints.

On the other hand, walking, is a low impact activity and causes less damage to the body.
The chances of damaging the hips and knee joints when running are quite low, but you will still have to do strides or squats at least twice a week.

Approximately 10,000 steps a day make women feel 6 years younger, and men would feel 4 years younger. Walking is easily implemented in working hours, so you may consider having a walking meeting or getting a treadmill desk.

Do you still prefer to run than to walk?
If you can not give up the trotted early in the morning, do it in the grass, forest paths, dirt, ashes and man-made tracks. Buy high quality shoes and make sure you're running it correctly. Consider gradually increasing the mileage you run.
